DICOM/HL7 Router Extends the Life of Existing PACS

A new picture archiving and communication system (PACS) feature will allow medical facilities to improve the performance and reliability of their current teleradiology network without expensive network redesign and investment.

The DCMSYS router Proxy, developed by Dicom Systems (San Francisco, CA, USA), improves workflow and does not require any changes to the existing TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/internet protocol) network, and can be installed in any facility.

It uses LAN (local area network) Bypass, along with Dicom Systems proprietary technology. LAN Bypass is a fault-tolerance feature that protects the essential teleradiology communications in the instance of power outage or any software failure. DICOM Proxy enables cashing of all the radiology-related data and passes it from the source to the destination effectively and securely. It is a suitable system for institutions considering a PACS replacement or looking to improve the performance of their existing PACS. DICOM Proxy allows users to update their current PACS with the new features.
