Nexsan Corp. (Thousand Oaks, CA, USA), a leading provider of energy-efficient long-term data storage, and GE Healthcare IT (Chalfont St. Giles, UK), a leading provider of healthcare information technology (IT), announced a joint alliance to provide state-of-the-art systems for capturing, processing, storing, and archiving images in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. As part of the agreement, GE Healthcare IT has certified Nexsan's green storage systems with its Centricity PACS-IW imaging solution.
Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) is a storage and management system for high-resolution images. The certified Nexsan products include the company's SATA line of high-density storage solutions and Nexsan Assureon, a long-term archiving product. GE Healthcare IT is the latest addition to Nexsan's global network of value-added resellers (VARs) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners. The companies already share several customers, including Lenox Hill Radiology (New York, NY, USA) and Metropolitan Diagnostic Imaging Group (Garden City, NY, USA).
"Nexsan's solutions are well-designed for the unique needs of the healthcare market with cutting-edge security, system scalability, and performance that help our customers meet compliance and privacy requirements while providing long-term storage of increasing amounts of PACS data,” said Don Woodlock, vice president and general manager, GE Healthcare IT. "Our customers also value Nexsan's combination of high-density, affordable solutions with energy-efficient storage.”
Philip Black, Nexsan president and CEO, remarked, "GE Healthcare IT is one of the largest and most successful healthcare technology providers in the world, and their web-based, single-desktop approach to PACS imaging is setting a new standard. When used with the secure, scalable and high-performance Nexsan Assureon, this solution gives providers fast access to critical information that can meaningfully improve patient care.”
Nexsan Assureon is a secure, intelligent archive storage solution that combines patent-pending security features with high availability, scalability and performance into a single, fully integrated disk-based storage solution. Assureon was designed from the ground up specifically to address the long-term storage and management of fixed content and compliance information, making it ideal for healthcare organizations that want to continually improve business practices and proactively comply with regulations being enforced by numerous agencies.
Nexsan provides a complete line of long-term disk storage solutions that offer exceptional price/performance and superior energy efficiency. A pioneer in green storage, Nexsan has delivered energy-efficient storage solutions since 2006 through its AutoMAID technology. AutoMAID, which is a standard feature on all Nexsan products, allows organizations to power down disk drives incrementally to an idle state. This conserves more than 30 times the energy of a conventional fiber channel solution per petabyte of storage, yet still provides nearly instantaneous access to data without a drop in performance.
Nexsan is a leading provider of energy-efficient, long-term storage systems. Nexsan provides secure storage appliances and modular, capacity-optimized disk-storage systems for a broad range of applications including fixed content storage and archiving, email, medical imaging, compliance and litigation support, disk-based backup, digital video security, and rich media. Nexsan's solutions are the choice of small and medium-sized companies as well as large global enterprises and major governmental agencies worldwide that are seeking cost-correct, high-density storage solutions. Founded in 1999, Nexsan sells its products exclusively through a select global network of VARs, OEMs, and system integrators.
GE Healthcare provides transformational medical technologies and services with expertise in medical imaging and information technologies, medical diagnostics, patient monitoring systems, performance improvement, drug discovery, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies. GE Healthcare's wide range of products and services enable healthcare providers to better diagnose and treat cancer, heart disease, neurologic diseases, and other conditions earlier.
