An international medical imaging IT company has announced that it has received its first order for an enterprise image management solution in South Africa, under a recent agreement with a distribution partner in that country.

The contract with a South African radiology group includes a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), and Vendor-Neutral Archive (VNA). The new enterprise image management solution will provide radiology services for the group’s three main imaging centers, including image and workload sharing, and access to the complete patient history from any of the centers.

Sectra (Linköping, Sweden) announced the distribution agreement with Tecmed Africa (Midrand, South Africa) to make its enterprise image management solution available to healthcare providers in South Africa. The first order was made by De Beer De Jager Radiologists (Pretoria, South Africa), for use by their 11 radiologists and their more than 30 imaging modalities. The order includes advanced 3D visualization, anatomical linking, and lesion tracking tools.

Dr. Marthinus Malan, from De Beer De Jager Radiologists, said, “Our group prides itself in being a radiological practice that combines best of breed innovation with a human-centered approach to healthcare. Sectra’s solution, with its track record of extremely high system availability and continuous development, suits us very well. In addition, with Sectra’s solution we will be able to efficiently expand the system to other departments if we want to do so in the future.”
