A new open-bore fluoroscopy computed tomography (CT) scanner for full-body point-of-care (POC) imaging can reduce transport risks to patients, improve accessibility to patient CT scans in limited spaces, and improve throughput for radiology departments.
The TRON open-bore fluoroscopy CT scanner for full-body POC imaging from Xoran Technologies (Ann Arbor, MI, USA) is a potential new addition to the company’s suite of imaging systems. TRON’s compact, mobile design and engineering for medical imaging provide healthcare professionals with a highly deployable CT scanner, and a POC solution for patients beyond the designated confines of a limited space.
Xoran which offers low-dose radiation, cone beam CT systems specifically designed for the patient's POC has submitted an FDA 510(k) application for TRON. With over 20 patents, the FDA 510(k) submission builds on the company's continued research and development efforts for lung CT imaging. These research efforts have shown marked capability in POC CT solutions for the neuro intensive care unit (NICU), the operating room, and satellite stations.
"This addition solidifies our commitment to improving patient accessibility to imaging at the point of care. The benefits of truly mobile compact devices cannot be underscored, and now by engineering the success of our head CT systems into an open-bore system, we are able to drive a new generation of Xoran's point-of-care (POC) imaging devices," said Misha Rakic, Xoran CEO.
