Nuclear Medicine Software Developed for Greater Productivity and Workflow Improvements

New nuclear medicine software provides enhanced integration and refined clinical content, for enhanced usability, workflow, and productivity.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) presented its the latest version of its Impax for Nuclear Medicine system at the 2012 Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) held in Milan (Italy), October 27-31, 2012. The system provides the benefits of integrated care to the nuclear medicine department, thus supporting the patient’s entire exam flow. The new version offers optimized integration and refined in-depth clinical content, for improved usability, workflow, and productivity.

Impax for Nuclear Medicine fully integrates the department’s workflow, bringing together images and data from a wide range of modalities and departments into one information technology (IT) platform. Users can read, process, and report all nuclear medicine, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), positron emission tomography (PET), and multimodality images with only the push of a button, from a single workstation.

The system is built on one of the most advanced Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). “Impax for Nuclear Medicine continues to offer the nuclear medicine department all the benefits of integrated care, and in this advanced version of the solution we have further improved integration and clinical content,” noted Erik Gielen, EMEA business manager, Agfa HealthCare. “From start to finish, it supports the patient's complete exam flow, while also improving interdepartmental communication.”

“Oasis for Impax, one of the components of the Impax for Nuclear Medicine solution and developed in cooperation with Segami Corp., adds a fully featured nuclear medicine image processing and viewing platform to the Impax workstation,” said Dr. Léonne Prompers, nuclear medicine physician, University Hospital of Maastricht (the Netherlands). “We no longer have to switch between workstations, or manually synchronize patient study lists. We can now read and report all studies from the Impax workstation resulting in improved workflow and increased user convenience.”
