An upgrade for a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) has been demonstrated at the 2015 European Congress of Radiology in Vienna (Austria).
The Vue Cardio PACS by Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) features a new patient-centric dashboard and improved image viewing, analytics, and reporting functionality. The updated dashboard displays the all relevant patient data and procedure history for diagnosis of the current exam, and shows prior exams as a timeline. A shortcut provides access to all relevant reports and other documents. The dashboard has a section for note taking, and for sending text messages, and emails to other physicians. Outcomes and reports are generated by a clinical information management tool, with complex search rules. Another addition is a new scheduling module from which procedures can be scheduled directly from the dashboard.
The Vue Cardio PACS consolidates reviews of echocardiography, ECG, cardiac catheterization, hemodynamics, and nuclear cardiology results. The PACS includes a zero-footprint viewer, which supports smart phone and tablet mobile devices, and allows clinicians, cardiologists, and referring physicians to access reports, patient information, and imaging data.
Advanced features of the PACS include support of Boston Z-scores for pediatric echo reporting, support for Stage 5 and Stage 6 stress echo exams, and quantitative coronary analysis for cardiac catheterization exams. Existing users can upgrade their PACS from the second quarter of 2015.
