Konica Minolta Medical Imaging (Wayne, NJ, USA), a leading medical diagnostic primary imaging provider, has announced the completed acquisition of Viztek (Garner, NC, USA), a company providing Healthcare Internet Technology solutions.
The acquisition enhances Konica Minolta’s end-to-end healthcare IT capabilities, including image sharing and viewing. Konica Minolta Medical Imaging is already well established in Digital Radiography (DR), Ultrasound, Healthcare IT and Services, providing healthcare services from the acquisition of images by modalities, to diagnosis by a clinician. Under the terms of the acquisition, Viztek LLC’s partner company, 20/20 Imaging LLC, will become an autonomous subsidiary of Konica Minolta.
Viztek provides digital software and hardware imaging solutions, training and support for hospitals and imaging centers, and provides telemedicine services. Viztek product line includes a web-based PACS and RIS system, and the recent Exa platform, a zero-footprint diagnostic viewer intended for use with Electronic Health Records (EHR), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). The Exa platform provides radiologists, and physicians ready access to images and clinical information throughout the care environment. Viztek also provides a comprehensive line of DR products and solutions, including wireless solutions, and dose-efficient pediatric software.
David Widmann, president and CEO, of Konica Minolta Medical Imaging, said, “The acquisition of Viztek will strengthen our healthcare IT solutions and broaden our Primary Imaging Solutions portfolio so that in turn we can enable our customers across all market segments to better meet the evolving healthcare requirements for Meaningful Use and value-based care. As we aim to significantly grow our business, we can now be further assured that we are responding to customers’ needs with healthcare solutions offered and supported by a single company.”
