PACS/RIS Networking System Unifies Radiology Workflows

A software and networking solution has been designed to unify the reading and reporting workflows of radiology clinics and healthcare organizations that provide radiology services to facilities with multiple picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) and radiology information systems (RIS).

Intelerad Medical Systems (Montreal, QC, Canada) will launch its innovative new product InteleOne at Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 29 to December 4, 2009, in Chicago, IL, USA.

InteleOne consolidates the image and patient data from multiple PACS and RIS into a streamlined, single workflow solution. Radiological studies can be routed from many different acquisition sites and integrated into the InteleOne master database for reading and case management alongside relevant prior studies. InteleOne enables radiologists to report from a single worklist, viewer, and dictation system or voice recognition product-- increasing their efficiency and eliminating the need to learn and use multiple products or workstations from different vendors. Report generation and distribution is also handled within InteleOne, allowing radiologists to sign-off reports in a single system while InteleOne delivers the reports via fax, email, or Health Level 7 (HL7) communications.

"InteleOne was developed to handle the complex reading and report distribution environment of radiology groups and integrated healthcare networks. Typically, they deal with multiple facilities and wish to gain workflow efficiency while leveraging prior investments made in PACS. The design expertise we have in-house, combined with the flexibility of IntelePACS, allowed us to create a streamlined solution to this common, real-life problem faced by our customers today,” said Chris Henri, executive vice president of business Development at Intelerad.
