The European Society of Radiology (ESR, Vienna, Austria) has issued a statement confirming that the European Society of Radiology Annual Congress (ECR 2020) postponed to July 15–19, 2020. The planned event was originally scheduled for March 11–15 at Austria Center in Vienna. The ESR has taken the decision to postpone the event after a careful evaluation of the spreading corona virus epidemic, and considering the recent statements issued by the WHO and the ECDC, and the related evolving world-wide restrictions and crisis.
Before taking the decision, the ESR also analyzed the recommendations from the Austrian health authorities for large-scale events and came to the conclusion that it was not in a position to fulfill their requirements and guarantee a safe congress for the participants and industry partners at this time.
The ESR has assured that that the registration fees for the event as well as for the online services remain in place for the new congress date and it will do its best to make ECR 2020 a spectacular and memorable event for all.
