Ultrasound Applications Developed for Women’s Health, General Imaging, Cardiovascular, and Point of Care

Four new ultrasound applications optimized for individual application areas will provide medical professionals with enhanced diagnostic effectiveness. The four packages (women’s health, general imaging, cardiovascular, and point of care) include tools such as optimal speckle reduction, edge enhancement, efficient line connectivity and higher grayscale contrast, which provides direct, focused enrichment of selected image features.

At this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting, held December 1-6, 2013, in Chicago (IL, USA), ContextVision (Stockholm, Sweden) is presenting four real-time ultrasound image enhancement packages as part of its ultrasound (US) PLUSView family.

With homogenization of soft tissue as well as greater contrast and edge enhancement, imaging professionals are able to better detect lesions in soft tissue during breast examinations. For more effective measurements of a fetus, the women’s health package provides distinct lines and edge conspicuity for greater diagnostic confidence.

Increased line connectivity and homogeneity included in the general imaging package allows for easier detection of lesions and visualization of renal pyramids. Efficient grayscale contrast, edge enhancement, and delineation of fluids facilitate diagnosis and lead to comprehensive structural evaluations.

Higher gray scale contrast and excellent edge enhancement provide sharper edges for clinicians to view the heart valves and to make accurate measurements. The cardiovascular package includes efficient speckle and noise reduction, making it easier to visualize atherosclerosis and calcifications in blood vessels.

Improved line connectivity and gray scale contrast enhances imaging on portable systems for musculoskeletal, nerve block, and needle guide exams. The point of care package provides automatically excellent image quality for less experienced ultrasound professionals.

The US PlusView Family is an adaptable product for all hardware platforms, from low-end central processing unit (CPU) systems to digital signal processing (DSP) platforms and high-end graphics processing unit (GPU)-based ultrasound systems. The cutting-edge proprietary GOP methodology detects structures by examining the significance of each pixel in relation to its wider setting.

“Our new packages allow us to optimize the image for specific clinical applications. Thereby we can further customize solutions for our OEM partners and their different ultrasound imaging needs.” said Anita Tollstadius, ContextVision CEO.
