State-of-the-Art Open MRI System Delivers Excellent Image Quality and Significantly Reduced Scan Times
By MedImaging International staff writers Posted on 26 Oct 2023 |

Esaote (Genoa, Italy) has unveiled S-scan Open, the new configuration of its S-scan MRI system. S-scan Open has been developed by Esaote after continuous research and development and incorporating market needs as well as user feedback from across the world. The updated version of the S-scan MRI system offers a superior performance level while also improving the experience for both healthcare providers and patients during diagnostic scans.
The new S-scan Open is now compliant with the most recent regulatory guidelines and features advanced image-optimization algorithms along with customized clinical protocols for MRIs using the eXP package. These upgrades contribute to high-quality imaging and notably shorter scanning times. Additionally, S-scan Open has introduced innovative solutions specifically tailored to streamline workflow and center the experience around the operator. One notable addition is the new open knee coil, a byproduct of Esaote's current MRI tech platform, which enriches the experience for both the medical staff and the patient.
The user interface has been updated to bring it in line with the latest Microsoft Office standards, making it simple and easy to navigate. In addition to meeting clinical requirements, S-scan Open is also designed to be operationally and financially viable as well as environmentally sustainable, owing to its lower energy usage. The S-scan Open has received both CE marking and FDA approval, and the registration process in other countries is in progress.
"With S-scan Open, we have relied on Esaote's latest technology, in terms of the hardware and software platform," said Massimo Olmi, Esaote MRI Marketing Director. “It has been specifically re-engineered to face the challenging requirements of musculoskeletal exams.”
