Carestream Health (Rochester, NY, USA), a provider of medical imaging systems and IT solutions, exhibited several new diagnostic imaging solutions introduced by the company this year at RSNA 2017 in Chicago.

Among the company’s new offerings at RSNA 2017 were the MR Brain Perfusion and MR Brain Diffusion modules, which enable radiologists to read these imaging studies from a Carestream Vue PACS diagnostic viewer. The company exhibited its MyVue Center Self-Service Kiosk, which is designed to enhance the patients’ ability to access and manage their medical imaging exam records. Patients can use the kiosk to print or share radiology reports and output their medical images onto film or a USB drive. Carestream also demonstrated its SmartGrid software which helps reduce the damaging effects of scatter radiation in a radiographic image and eliminate the need for an anti-scatter grid. This optional capability is available for use with Carestream’s portable and room-based DRX imaging systems, as well as its DRX-1 retrofit system, which converts computed radiography systems to digital radiography.

Carestream’s flagship products for medical imaging displayed at RSNA 2017 included the DRX-Revolution mobile X-ray system, which offers excellent image quality and maneuverability, and features a collapsible column that makes it safer and easier to drive. Also on display at this year’s RSNA were the DRX-Ascend and DRX-Evolution Plus, which features software and hardware enhancements to help expedite complex medical imaging exams and support future advanced imaging applications. The company also exhibited the DRX-Excel Plus for radiography/fluoroscopy imaging which performs contrast exams using fluoroscopy that can be associated with a radiography image. It is also suited for specialized contrast procedures that record both fluoroscopy and radiography sequences and interventional procedures.

Other products showcased at the event included Carestream’s new family of DRX Core detectors, which are thinner and lighter, and deliver enhanced image quality. Visitors at RSNA 2017 were also able to view the Touch Prime ultrasound systems featuring a sealed, all-touch control panel that combines the speed and flexibility of a soft user interface with the tactile feedback of traditional keys. Additionally, the company exhibited its OnSight 3D Extremity System which uses cone beam CT technology to capture high-quality, 3D weight-bearing and other types of extremity exams for orthopedic practices, imaging centers, and hospitals, along with the Vue Clinical Collaboration Platform for health IT.
