A new medical image management cloud platform will be built in China under a strategic partnership agreement signed between a large international healthcare imaging systems and IT company, and a Chinese Healthcare IT provider.
The platform will provide telehealth services for Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR), X-Ray, EchoCardioGrams (ECGs), sonograms, dermatology and other imaging exams. The platform will feature an advanced diagnostic viewer, and links to images and reports for radiologists, oncologists and referring physicians. The platform will also feature standards-based imaging information management and sharing, and a patient portal where registered patients can securely access, manage, and share their clinical data.
The agreement is between Carestream Health (Rochester, NY, USA), a provider of dental and medical imaging systems, and IT solutions, and Alibaba Health Information Technology (Bermuda). The platform will use Alibaba Health’s online healthcare services system Alijk dot com, and an enterprise image management based on Carestream's Clinical Collaboration Platform. The new platform is an important extension of China's growing healthcare infrastructure, and operate similarly to Alibaba Health’s existing online pharmacy services. The platform will provide services for doctors, patients, pharmacies, and third-party medical service providers, and improve the quality and efficiency of medical services in China.
Ni Jianwen, vice president, Alibaba Health, said, "This new service allows a specialist to make real-time diagnostic and treatment decisions. It also facilitates patients’ accessibility to medical consultation by eliminating the need to travel to healthcare facilities. It is a step forward to offer an exceptional customer experience in the healthcare industry."
