New Radiotracer Helps Diagnose Prostate Cancer Faster

A new study describes a radioactive tracer that targets two different biomarkers, gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) and integrin αvβ3, which often indicate prostate cancer (PC). More...

MPI Technology Now Available to Medical Researchers in Australia

Medical researchers in Australia now have access to a new imaging technology called Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) that can give researchers improved insight into organ and tissue function, with sensitivity comparable to that of nuclear medicine, the speed of Computed Tomography (CT), and the resolution of Magnetic Resolution Imaging (MRI). More...

Radiotherapy Increases Complications in Reconstructed Breasts

Researchers at the University of Michigan conducted a prospective, multicenter cohort study in which they collected medical data and patient-reported outcomes data from 553 RT patients and 1,461 patients who did not receive RT. About 38% and 25 % of the patients who did and did not receive RT, respectively, received autologous reconstruction, with the rest receiving implant reconstruction. Main outcomes and measures were complications following breast reconstruction, and satisfaction based on the BREAST-Q patient-reported outcome instrument. More...

Increased NIV Molecular Imaging Technologies Needed for Cancer Care

According to researchers in the US, new molecular imaging technologies can facilitate the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of cancer, while at the same time reducing the frequency of unnecessary or ineffective therapies and minimizing side effects. More...

Research Shows Radiotherapy Dampens Immune Response

A new study shows that while radiotherapy (RT) elicits an immune response that kills tumor cells, it also boosts immunosuppressive cells, which dampen the anti-tumor immunity. More...
