A large medical imaging equipment manufacturer has released a new family of Digital Radiology (DR) core detectors intended for use in mobile imaging, imaging centers, small and mid-sized hospitals, urgent care centers, specialized clinics, and other facilities.

The detectors provide high-quality DR imaging exams, and include 35 x 43 cm, and 43 x 43 cm wireless Gadolinium (GOS) and Cesium (CsI) scintillators, and 43 x 43 cm fixed detectors for both scintillators.

The DRX Core detectors were released by Carestream Health (Rochester, NY, USA) and are intended for use with the DRX-Ascend system, for DRX-Mobile retrofit kits, and the DRX-Motion mobile X-Ray system. Each system can register up to two DRX Core detectors at the same time. Users can combine DRX Plus, DRX Core, and DRX-1 detectors and a total of eight detectors simultaneously, using the DIRECTVIEW Software on each imaging system.

It takes only three seconds to obtain a preview image using the DRX Core detectors, and 12 seconds for a full-resolution image. The detectors use the same battery as the DRX Plus and DRX-1 detectors, and are intended for use with the DIRECTVIEW software, or Image Suite software. The new detectors have a Level 4 liquid rating, and tri- and bi-colored LED lights provide feedback of detector status.

Sarah Verna, Global Marketing Manager for X-Ray Solutions, said, “The ability to integrate DRX Core, DRX Plus and DRX-1 detectors offers exceptional flexibility for healthcare providers of all sizes. Providers can select a detector that offers the desired features and budget requirements for each imaging area.”
