A new line of computed radiography (CR) systems provides high-image quality using advanced CR technology, at a lower cost. The range covers both general radiography and mammography imaging applications.Posted on 14 Mar 2011
By launching its new family of basic computed radiography (CR) systems at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2011, held in Vienna, Austria, in March 2011, Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) displayed a cost-effective way for hospitals to adopt CR. The CR 30-X, CR 30-x and CR 30-Xm all offer robustness and serviceability, as well as excellent image processing of MUSICA2.

The range of basic CR solutions launched at ECR included the CR 30-X, a high-volume desktop digitizer, supporting a broad range of general radiology applications including full leg/full spine (FLFS). The CR 30-x, a low-volume desktop digitizer supporting the same broad range of radiology exams. The CR 30-Xm, a high-volume desktop digitizer that can be used for both mammography and general radiology.
Each of these CR systems is supported by MUSICA2, Agfa HealthCare's gold-standard image processing software, and offers the same image quality as Agfa HealthCare's most advanced CR systems. The CR 30-X and CR 30-x provide image quality with 100 μm resolution, while the CR 30-Xm, for mammography, offers images with very fine 50 μm pixel definition.
Hans Vandewyngaerde, vice president Region Europe, Agfa HealthCare, explained, "We are committed to offering the benefits of CR to all types of hospitals and healthcare facilities, whether large or small, with a high volume or low volume of imaging. With our new family of basic CR solutions we have focused on developing solutions that offer the same high image quality, but in a set of basic, compact, and cost-effective systems suitable for any imaging environment.”
