The world leading developer of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) ultrasound imaging systems has announced that its’ UHF clinical ultrasound system was awarded the Conformité Européenne (CE) Marking certification.

Over the last 10 years, the UHF system had already had numerous successes in preclinical research, and the CE Marking, is another major milestone in deploying this new technology with its extremely high image resolution capabilities, into the clinical market.

The award was announced by FUJIFILM VisualSonics (Toronto, ON, Canada) for its’ Vevo MD UHF system. The system operates at much higher frequencies than conventional ultrasound systems, and works with a series of UHF transducers that work at frequencies up to 70 MHz. UHF technology is intended for imaging small parts in the first 3 cm of the body, in fields such as neonatology, musculoskeletal, vascular, and dermatology.

Renaud Maloberti, VP & GM of FUJIFILM VisualSonics, said, “The Vevo MD allows medical professionals to see what they have never seen before—unparalleled image resolution down to 30 micrometers. This is less than half the size of a grain of sand. Imagine the great potential this technology has across unexplored applications to visualize the smallest, highly detailed anatomy in a way that has never been done before”.
