An ultrasound imaging vendor has announced a new mobile point-of-care ultrasound system, which can be operated like a tablet, with one-touch image optimization and exam presets for multiple Point-of-Care (POC) applications.

The ultrasound imaging system was designed for fast-paced critical care and emergency medicine settings, and, unlike competing POC systems, does not need a keyboard.

The TE7 system was developed by Mindray (Nanshan, Shenzhen, China) and includes features such as a 38.1-cm high-resolution anti-glare touchscreen, one-touch image optimization, cardiac capabilities, specific applications for emergency departments, Mindray iNeedle optimized needle visualization with dedicated nerve exam presets, Continuous Wave (CW) doppler and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), and other transducers, wireless networking, and a cart with a retractable power cable.

The height-adjustable and mobile TE7 ultrasound cart has a slim profile. The TE7 includes an innovative ergonomic design, and has three active transducer connectors. The TE7 takes only three seconds to start up from standby and has a battery life of two hours. The TE7 can also be wall-mounted.

The innovative user interface of the TE7 enables a clinician to select an existing focused exam-preset and automatically access relevant functions. The tablet-like interface enables to open or close functions by tapping the screen, adjust parameters or move objects by dragging them, slide to make selections, pinch to zoom in or out, and swipe the screen to enlarge the image.

Wayne Quinn, president of Mindray North America, said, “Mindray has become a leader in POC ultrasound solutions and innovative technologies have helped build that leadership. Clinicians who reviewed the TE7 were first impressed with the clean, intuitive operation. They were then pleasantly surprised by its superior imaging quality, fast responsiveness and breadth of applications.”
