A new ultrasound system featuring enhanced usability, reliability and image quality, and intended for use with a broad spectrum of diseases of the abdomen, breast, cardiovascular system, and musculoskeletal system, has been launched.Posted on 07 Jun 2015
The system is intended for research purposes, but also for hospitals, and includes an enhanced diagnostic package designed for radiology departments. The system will initially be launched in Korea and Europe, in the US in August 2015, and in the Middle East in September 2015.
The RS80A with Prestige ultrasound imaging system was launched by Samsung Medison (Seoul, Korea), a leading global manufacturer of medical devices, and provides improved research capability over the existing versions of this product.
The RS80A with Prestige features S-Fusion, a function which can help locate lesions more precisely by simultaneously allowing access to high-resolution Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams. S-Fusion can also use auto-registration to align CT or MRI images within 30 seconds, for rapid diagnosis.
Another feature of the system called S-Shearwave, helps quantify the stiffness of body tissue without biopsy, using the shear wave produced around the region of interest. The S-Shearwave function provides Reliable Measurement Index (RMI), and statistics, for measurements of median and standard deviation.
The RS80A also uses the Samsung Natural Vue 3-D technology which has a 3-D/4-D reflection mode, and can show features not visible in classic imaging. The RS80A also includes an arterial analysis function which supports morphological and functional analysis of the blood vessels, enabling earlier detection of cardiovascular disease.
Soo-in Cho, CEO of Samsung Medison, added, “After seeing a favorable response from the market with our first radiology system RS80A last year, it is exciting to release the RS80A with Prestige featuring additional research functions and enhanced user experience. Samsung will continue to put its best efforts in developing ultrasound technology and clinical usability for diagnosis in the medical field.”
