A new lightweight ultrasound tablet is a merging of advanced technology with an intuitive interface that streamlines workflow. The system weighs less than 2.27 kg and provides very sharp image quality.

Terason (Burlington, MA, USA) announced the launch of their new uSmart 3200T ultrasound system, the first in Terason’s uSmart range of products. This new tablet, considered “disruptive technology” by industry leaders, should enhance the way healthcare is delivered in both hospital and outpatient clinics using of point-of-care (POC) ultrasound. The Terason uSmart 3200T has received CE marking and 510(k) US Food and Drug (FDA) clearance.

Terason, a division of Teratech Corp., draws upon technology developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT; Boston, MA, USA) Lincoln Laboratory. Dr. Alice Chiang, CEO and chairman of the board, founded the company to apply developments in the fields of radar, sonar, and telecommunications technologies to the challenging requirements of battlefield ultrasound. With initial key patents protecting the integrated circuit technology she developed at MIT, Dr. Chiang established Terason for the development of a microminiaturized commercial ultrasound system.
