Two new ultrasound systems are paying specific attention to the importance of ergonomics, workflow, and flexibility and are based on the productivity-oriented platform (POP). They were designed to meet any anesthesiology and intensive care unit requirements.

Esaote (Genoa, Italy) extends its MyLab ultrasound imaging range with two new systems for regional anesthesia and pain management, which were presented at the 31st annual congress of the European Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Therapy, ESRA 2012, held September 2012 in Bordeaux (France).

Esaote has provided high-performance musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound systems worldwide, having pioneered the availability of very high frequency-ultrasound imaging also on portable systems. Esaote has achieved significant results in this specialty by being the first to introduce 18 MHz imaging in the MSK ultrasound market. High frequency probes enhance image quality and resolution, thereby helping clinicians to perform their daily tasks with greater accuracy and safely.

“Ultrasound is an exceptional technology able to provide a quick and in-depth view of patients’ anatomy. Thanks to real-time acquisition, it allows for the [immediate assessment of] both static as well as dynamic anatomical structures,” said Prof. Dr. Bernhard Moriggl of the Innsbruck Medical University (Austria). “From a diagnostic point of view, the development of ultrasound technology is a great value for physicians who can attain more information and feel more confident when scanning for peripheral nerve blocks and pain management procedures.”

In addition to the MyLab One application-specific ultrasound system, MyLab Alpha and MyLabt Seven provide excellent image quality even on portable systems, sophisticated technologies for clear needle display (NNE-nerve and needle enhancement), easy protection, cleaning and disinfection, modular configurations, which include a transesophageal probe and a full cardiac package, along with innovative solutions for connectivity and data sharing.

“These two new products complement Esaote’s product range for regional anesthesia and point-of-care applications,” said Luciano Schiavini, general manager of Esaote France. “They provide innovative solutions thatset a new benchmark in terms of premium performance, mobility, and dedicated solutions for these applications.”
