Understanding clinicians’ need for increased diagnostic effectiveness, a new ultrasound system offers proprietary Active Array technology, a novel solution that moves key technology from the system to the transducer, resulting in enhanced image quality in both two-dimensional (2D) and color, with lighter weight cabling, and increased transducer reliability.

Philips Healthcare (Best, The Netherlands) introduced ClearVue, a family of ultrasound solutions featuring innovative technology, smart design and ease of use to make high quality imaging available to a wider range of clinicians globally. Featured August 2011 at the 13th annual World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) in Vienna, Austria, ClearVue system demonstrates more cost-effective, simplified, patient-focused healthcare solutions with high clinical performance.

To support practices with high patient volumes, the sleek control panel is designed to speed image acquisition and management for enhanced ease of use. Customizable SmartExam protocols, a unique tool that enables standardization of the ultrasound exam process from planning to reviewing, help to streamline workflow and enhance productivity, and aid in accreditation. Moreover, the system’s intuitive user interface provides flexibility to serve patients in any care setting across a wide range of applications including cardiology, abdominal, ob/gyn, fertility, vascular, breast, and musculoskeletal imaging.

Recognizing customers’ desire for products that reduce operating costs and contribute to a sustainable environment while providing excellent imaging quality and ease of use, ClearVue offers better reliability and serviceability: a smart, modular design for increased effectiveness and easier serviceability. Green technology: a streamlined, lightweight, and energy-efficient system, ClearVue runs on less power to save on energy costs.

“ClearVue provides excellent image quality at an affordable price for quick and reliable diagnostic decision making,” said Dr. Alka Karnik, from Sonosight Imaging Center (Mumbai, India). “The system will give clinicians the technology and image quality they expect from Philips to best serve our patients while providing great value for our success.”

“Global healthcare cost pressure and ongoing technological developments are driving increased opportunities for ultrasound,” Conrad Smits, senior vice president, Philips Healthcare, general manager, for Philips ultrasound said. “There is growing global focus on cost-effective systems, smaller footprints, easier operation with improved clinical functionality.”

ClearVue is being introduced in Europe, India, Australia, and New Zealand. It is not available for sale in the United States.
