Siemens Presents Groundbreaking Innovations Shaping the Future of Healthcare

At RSNA 2023, Siemens Healthineers (Erlangen, Germany) is showcasing a wide range of innovative healthcare solutions that support patients and physicians wherever they are.

Naeotom Alpha was launched by Siemens in 2021 and is still the only commercially available system with photon-counting technology cleared for clinical use. At RSNA 2023, Siemens is unveiling a third wave of clinical innovations, bringing more than 10 new functionalities aimed at further improving performance, especially in the cardiac arena. A new heart imaging reconstruction allows cardiac imagers to achieve consistent results for various detector widths. Another update further improves the performance of scans of hearts with extensive calcifications or stents – with spectral information and reconstruction of spectral results to give even more functional insights.

At Booth #2529, Siemens is introducing the Acuson Maple1, a powerful, versatile, and affordable ultrasound system that enables rapid diagnosis and assessment in all clinical settings. Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features optimize everyday clinical performance for users of all skill levels. Powered by Acuson technology from the company’s established portfolio, the Acuson Maple is designed for the clinician who needs a workhorse ultrasound system that supports a diverse range of ultrasound use cases. Lightweight, portable, and battery-powered, the Acuson Maple is ideal for emerging markets, small hospitals, outpatient centers, private practices, and urgent care centers.

Siemens is also providing a glimpse of its recently launched Somatom Pro.Pulse, a new Dual Source CT (computed tomography) scanner that is more accessible for smaller and rural facilities as well as outpatient diagnostic centers. Dual Source computed tomography – CT scanners with two radiation tubes and detectors each – allows for very high temporal resolution. With the intelligent workflow of myExam Companion, Somatom Pro.Pulse significantly simplifies exams while personalizing scanning for each patient. myExam Companion combines patient data such as gender, height, and age and collects information that is relevant for CT scans such as heart rate or breath-hold capabilities. The scanner then optimizes the scan parameters and tailors a patient-specific scan protocol. The FAST (fully assisting scanner technologies) 3D camera automatically performs precise and consistent patient positioning. Both features help reduce the time clinicians spend on routine tasks. With around 20 percent lower power consumption than previous Dual Source generations, the system is more sustainable and keeps running costs low.
