Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. (Tustin, CA, USA) introduced two new wireless detectors, CXDI-702C and CXDI-402C, at the 2019 RSNA Annual Meeting held December 1–6 in Chicago, USA. Both the new detectors have received FDA 510(k) clearance and offer superb quality and reliability, as well as the features and accessories of Canon’s CXDI-710C, CXDI-810C and CXDI-410C wireless detectors. Canon also introduced its new Cartesion Prime PET/CT system at RSNA 2019.

The CXDI-702C and CXDI-402C wireless detectors feature an open, curved external cover, designed with usability in mind and helping to facilitate both the user and patient experience. With the lightweight handgrips, users are able to comfortably and easily hold and handle the detectors on all four sides. Additionally, the detectors are designed to provide certain limited protection from dust and splashed water with limited ingress of both permitted.

“We are excited to add the CXDI-702C and CXDI-402C wireless detectors to the Canon U.S.A. product portfolio as they align with Canon’s commitment to developing high-quality diagnostic imaging devices with the goal of helping to improve the quality of life for patients,” said Tsuneo Imai, vice president and general manager, Healthcare Solutions Division, Business Information Communications Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “These detectors were designed by Canon Inc. to meet clinical professionals’ demand for a cost-effective detector technology with the ability to benefit multiple types of diagnostic imaging facilities, and Canon U.S.A. is happy to make them available to its customers.”

At RSNA 2019, Canon introduced the Cartesion Prime PET/CT system, a new premium Digital PET/CT scanner designed to help health care providers deliver more personalized care. The Cartesion Prime Digital PET/CT system is comprised of Canon’s new premium SiPM PET detector and the Aquilion Prime SP CT system for optimal PET/CT imaging and workflow with a patient and operator-centric design, along with innovative features to help clinicians guide their business with confidence. Some of its key features include advanced silicon photomultiplier design with one-to-one coupling for increased clinical confidence; Fast Time-of-Flight resolution for high quality images and increased productivity; large axial field of view to provide fast scans and a comfortable experience for patients, as well as improve the scanner’s sensitivity which can be used for dose efficiencies that can impact patients and operators; and air-cooling technologies that support more attractive siting and long-term maintenance requirements as compared to water-cooled systems.

“With our customers’ needs in mind, we developed the Cartesion Prime Digital PET/CT with advanced features that can help clinicians chart the right course for their patients’ care,” said Tim Nicholson, managing director, Molecular Imaging Business Unit, Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. “This advanced technology has led to image quality improvements, while optimizing dose efficiency to reduce patient risk and speeding up acquisition time for improved throughput. These innovations are part of Canon Medical’s commitment to continually provide meaningful improvement for today’s care, and for the future.”
