A 2-D/3-D imaging software provider has announced that two of the leading academic hospitals in Germany will install the company’s imaging systems.

The imaging software will provide full-body stereo-radiographic images of patients, in both 2-D and 3-D, with a radiation dose 95% less than a standard Computed Tomography (CT) scan, and 50% to 85% less than a digital radiology scan.

EOS Imaging (Paris, France) will install the imaging software systems at the Heidelberg University Orthopedic Hospital (Heidelberg, Germany) and the Medical Center of the University of Munich (Munich, Germany).

The Heidelberg hospital processes more than 50,000 orthopedic outpatients and 6,000 in-patients with injuries to the musculoskeletal system, every year. The hospital aims to use the EOS Imaging system for conservative orthopedics and high precision surgery, and for the restoration, and improvement of patient mobility. The hospital will use the EOS system to improve surgical planning, and for safe monitoring of bracing treatments.

The University Hospital Munich has 45 clinics, institutes and departments, and 2,200 patient beds. The hospital has a dedicated joint replacement center, specialized in revision arthroplasties. The University has two campuses and is one of the largest hospitals in Europe. The EOS Imaging solution will be used for research projects and for the treatment of medical conditions of the spinal cord in children and adults.

The EOS system includes additional software solutions, such as the EOS Micro Dose option, recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Marie Meynadier, CEO of EOS imaging, said, “These key installations further illustrate the growing adoption rate of EOS with recognition by the highest-regarded orthopedics departments in Germany. We are proud to provide EOS imaging services to the Heidelberg Orthopedics Hospital and the Medical Center of the University of Munich and we look forward to helping these two prestigious sites provide even better services to their patients.”
