Bayer Healthcare (Leverkusen, Germany) announced their new offering known as Stellant Connect to support the Certegra @ Point of Care contrast dose management solution at this year’s European Congress of Radiology (ECR).

Stellant Connect offers customers a platform to implement Certegra and deliver patient injection information to the recently launched Radimetrics Enterprise Platform. The new offering that is unique to the industry supports the unifying of CT contrast dose and radiation dose management to deliver total dose management through customizable dashboards and reports. The combined platform captures, monitors, and analyzes key data, as well as displaying results with relevant information sent to hospitals’ RIS, PACS, or radiology reporting systems.

At ECR 2014, the Radimetrics Enterprise Platform was shown throughout the Bayer booth along with Stellant Connect and the Certegra @ Point of Care solution. The combined solution is now available in Europe.

“The result of having access to this new realm of patient data offers the potential to improve management of the patient, optimize imaging outcomes as well as improve practices. This new offering is being launched in Europe this month and also features multilanguage support,” said David Hilderbrand, Head of Informatics for Region Europe at Bayer HealthCare.

He explained that in Region Europe, current customers who are managing contrast injections today with Stellant are capable of adopting the Certegra @ Point of Care contrast dose-management solution. With the new introduction of Stellant Connect, which includes the Certegra Workstation as combined offering, customers can now choose their desired Certegra software applications. These enable the application of customized patient injection protocols through P3T, improved automation, and capture and process a multitude of injection parameters during CT contrast injection for reporting and analysis.

The new combined system is targeted for flexibility and to suit the needs of the European customer and European purchasing environment. “Even if the customer’s budget does not enable the purchasing of Certegra software packages today, they will be able to build on it in the future by working with the local Bayer representative to identify a customized solution that fits their unique needs,” added Mr. Hilderbrand.

To develop the new offering, Bayer worked closely with their customers and understood that they required a platform that enabled reliable, automated radiation and contrast-dose information administration with tools to support patient safety management and regulatory reporting requirements. Furthermore, this offers the opportunity to improve quality assurance. In addition, those customers were looking for a unified solution that could not only proactively alert them to issues, but would also integrate with existing hospital systems. Ultimately, Bayer’s solutions will take radiation exposure information from individual imaging modalities along with patient injection data from its CT injection systems and then process it to deliver the actionable data needed for customers to improve outcomes.

Mr. Hilderbrand added: “We want every customer to choose the right Certegra software solution for their hospital. We understand that every site is unique and has specific needs.’’ Bayer is now working with customers to implement tailor made solutions.
