Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA; Twinsburg, OH, USA), a leading provider of diagnostic imaging technology, announced US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance to market its Scenaria Advanced 128 CT system, the newest model of the Scenaria scalable CT platform.

Because the system is a scalable platform, the Advanced 128 features are also available as a field upgrade for the Scenaria 64-slice model. “Scenaria is another example of Hitachi’s ability to provide superior product value by combining the latest dose-saving and imaging technologies with a premium feature set that includes a standard 2-meter scannable range table with greater than 226 kg capacity and unique lateral shift capability [16-cm range] to center the patient’s anatomy of interest nearest to the scan isocenter,” said Mark Silverman, director of CT marketing, Hitachi Medical Systems.
“The Scenaria Advanced 128 model is an important achievement as Hitachi continues to expand the breadth of our CT product line and installation foot-print in the US market,” said Sheldon Schaffer, VP and general manager, MR/CT, Hitachi Medical.
Dose-saving features, in clinical use, may reduce CT patient dose, depending on the clinical task, patient size, anatomic location, patient size, and clinical practices employed.
