For any healthcare facility, irrespective of size or budget, a direct radiography (DR) upgrade solution provides a range of benefits that improve workflow and speed up exam time.

Agfa HealthCare’s (Mortsel, Belgium) cost-effective yet versatile DR upgrade solution, facilities can move to DR, while maximizing their existing investments in imaging equipment.

DX-D Retrofit is a connection-only solution allowing easy upgrade of film and computed radiography (CR)-based modalities to DR. It comprises a flat-panel detector, the Retrofit box, including a hand switch, and an Agfa HealthCare NX workstation with Musica2 image processing software, which has been specially adapted and tuned to additionally enhance the DR image quality. The NX workstation provides very fast previews, low cycle times, and excellent connectivity with radiology information systems (RIS), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), and hospital information systems (HIS).

Installation of DX-D Retrofit is quick, easy, and noninvasive: with its simple connection to the X-ray unit’s console, DX-D Retrofit does not change the existing functionality of the X-ray unit. It comes with a choice of wireless cesium iodide (CsI) and tethered gadolinium oxysulfide (GOS) detectors. CsI technology offers the potential for significant patient dose reduction. The wireless panels can be shared with other fixed or mobile Agfa HealthCare DR solutions, for further cost reduction. With their imaging size of 35 x 43 cm, the cassette size detectors fit any standard bucky.

A direct digital solution, DX-D Retrofit improves workflow and speeds up exam time. Some of the benefits of DR include immediate verification of the positioning of the patient and the quality of the image, and immediate transmission of the images to the PACS.

“With DX-D Retrofit, healthcare facilities using either analog or CR can upgrade to a DR solution that offers best-in-class image quality and connectivity to PACS, RIS and HIS, from a leader in tried and tested DR solutions, all at an affordable price,” commented Dirk Debusscher, vice president imaging at Agfa HealthCare.
