New cost-effective and flexible clinical fluoroscopy and radiography systems have been developed with dose reduction capabilities.

The Luminos Fusion and Multix Fusion have been launched by Siemens Healthcare (Erlangen, Germany) as a new Fusion product range. The Luminos is suited to clinical fluoroscopy needs and the Multix is the latest in affordable solutions for routine radiography. Siemens eight new fluoroscopy products introduced to the market in the last five years and over 10,000 installed systems.

The Luminos Fusion is a new fluoroscopy system that provides high image quality at low dose. The system’s compact table design and integrated control room panel give it the flexibility to be used for a range of examination requirements including free exposures, lateral projections, or for patients with limited mobility. The Luminos can be customized for specific department needs such as digital subtraction angiography (DSA), tomography, or upright examinations via the bucky wall stand. It operates at the lowest dose possible with Siemens Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure (CARE) and benefits from ease of use via a touch-user interface, touch-sensitive joystick, and single-click cassette changing.

The Multix Fusion is an affordable system for routine radiography and can be customized to hospital requirements. It has been designed to deliver ease of use, excellent image quality, dose reduction, and maintain rapid scan flow. The Multix will be available in digital and analogue formats where the analogue version can be enhanced to full digital capabilities with a Multix digital radiography (DR) upgrade at any time. This Multix DR-Upgrade is now available for all Multix systems. For increased productivity and patient comfort, the system also features a flat detector and bucky wall stand, with high contrast ensured via advanced DiamondView Plus post-processing tools. Moreover, the Multix’s flexible tube allows for 180 cm of vertical movement and its height-adjustable table for 190 cm of coverage.

“The addition of two advanced Fusion systems continues to bolster our fluoroscopy and radiography portfolio and will help ease the pressure on those healthcare institutions under pressure to deliver high quality care for less,” states Joanne McAuliffe, product manager for X-ray and fluoroscopy systems at Siemens Healthcare. “The Luminos Fusion and Multix Fusion have been designed with flexibility and affordability in mind so as to help meet a variety of clinical needs while continuing to offer high image quality at low dose.”
