Portable, lightweight digital radiography (DR) systems provide high quality, filmless image capture for a wide range of radiographic applications, including trauma, intensive care unit (ICU), and bedside exams.Posted on 31 Mar 2011
Canon USA, Inc. (Lake Success, NY, USA), a developer of digital imaging, reported the installation of 178 DR systems integrated with Canon CXDI-50G and CXDI-55G DR systems in various hospitals throughout Mexico through its local distributors, including Casa Plarre S.A. de C.V. (Mexico City, Mexico).
"The recent installation of the digital radiography systems integrated with Canon brand CXDI-50G and CXDI-55G digital radiography systems will help enable the physicians in those medical facilities to more effectively and quickly diagnose patients, resulting in greater hospital efficiency and a more positive patient experience,” said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Medical systems division, Canon USA. "Thanks to our partners, we are happy to be providing hospitals in Mexico access to our quality radiology equipment and cutting-edge portable digital technology.”
Featuring proprietary, advanced Canon LANMIT (large area new metal-insulator-semiconductor [MIS] sensor and thin film transistor [TFT]) detector technology, the CXDI-50G DR system offers high-quality diagnostic images. The versatile CXDI-50G DR system can be retrofitted onto nearly any new or existing X-ray equipment including an upright stand, universal stand, or bucky table.
At only 1.5 cm thick and weighing 3.4 kg, the Canon CXDI-55G digital radiography system is a versatile lightweight portable detector that can help improve the workflow of the X-ray room. Providing an effective imaging area of 35.5 cm x 43.1 cm, the portability of the CXDI-55G DR system accommodates a wide variety of studies such as wheelchair chest, decubitus views, and weight-bearing scans. The CXDI-55G portable flat panel detector can be utilized for a variety of X-ray applications, including trauma centers, ICUs, pediatrics, and orthopedics. The simple-to-grip handle design allows both the patient and X-ray technician to hold comfortably the detector in place during image capture. The CXDI-55G flat panel detector also features a detachable sensor cable for time-effective transport and simple installation.
X-ray images can be confirmed on an optional preview monitor virtually immediately after exposure. If another exposure is required, the detector will be ready in seconds due to a fast refresh cycle. The CXDI-55G flat panel detector offers extensive workflow capabilities and data transfer to any Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) device, picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and/or DICOM printer for efficient data management, printing, archiving, and remote viewing of images.
Part of Canon Medical Systems' distribution network, Casa Plarre S.A. de C.V. worked extensively to distribute Canon brand medical equipment to multiple Mexican hospitals. Casa Plarre S.A. de C.V. has supplied 91 mobile DR systems integrated with the Canon CXDI-50G digital detector, as well as 15 digital general radiography systems integrated with the Canon brand CXDI-55G portable digital detector. Another distributor has helped provide 72 digital general radiography systems integrated with the portable Canon CXDI-50G digital detector.
