A major imaging vendor has announced a new range of advanced Magnetic Resonance (MR) solutions designed to enable collaboration with research partners.

The MR systems were showcased at the annual International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) meeting in Toronto (Canada), May 30 to June 5, 2015.

The new MR systems were presented by Royal Philips (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). Philips provides open access to their systems to facilitate collaboration and allow Philips’ research partners access to key algorithms so that they can develop their own applications on Philips platforms.

Philips MR technology presented at ISMRM 2015 include Recon 2.0, a flexible, high-end MR image reconstruction framework, and IntelliSpace Discovery, a multimodality visualization and analysis solution. Philips will also present the and the Ingenia 3.0T CX, and the Ingenia MR-RT MR-only simulation—a new therapeutic approach helping clinicians use MR as primary imaging modality for treating prostate cancer.

Dr. Chun Yuan, PhD, said, "Our group has had a longstanding collaboration with Philips. A significant contributor to the success of this collaboration has been the ability to access their MR software source code, which has allowed us to delve deep into the system and create new imaging techniques to help with stroke research. Ultimately, we believe this will help us to create new clinical methods to diagnose and treat patients at risk of having stroke before it happens."
