GE Acquires Thales Ultrasound Probes

In a transaction that gives the company new probe technology, GE Medical Systems (Waukesha, WI, USA) has acquired Thales Ultrasound Probes S.A. (Paris, France). Terms were not disclosed.

Thales Ultrasound Probes has more than 20 years of experience in the ultrasound industry and is noted for product innovation and quality. The company has developed advanced transducer technology and will help GE develop the next generation of ultrasound transducers.

"We are extremely excited about this acquisition because both companies are driven by developing leading edge technology that improves healthcare delivery,” said Omar Ishrak, Ph.D., CEO and president of Global Ultrasound for GE Medical Systems. Thales Ultrasound Probes was formerly part of Thales Group, a leading global supplier of professional electronics for aerospace, defense, and information technology markets.
