GE Acquires Sopha Medical Vision

GE Medical Systems (Waukesha, WI, USA) has acquired Sopha Medical Vision (SMV, Buc, France), which designs and manufactures nuclear medicine and positron emission tomography (PET) systems. Financial terms were not disclosed.

SMV offers a comprehensive array of cameras, workstations, clinical software, cardiology applications, and networking and archiving solutions for nuclear medicine and PET applications. The company has manufacturing and engineering operations in both Buc (France) and Twinsburg, OH (USA).

"This acquisition reinforces out commitment to leadership in functional imaging (nuclear medicine/PET) and molecular imaging,” said Beth Klein, vice president and general manager of Global Functional Imaging for GE Medical. "It will accelerate our development of advanced software applications and connectivity solutions that will help us better serve our customers around the world.”
