The Finnish dental equipment manufacturer Planmeca Oy (Helsinki, Finland) and 3D Diagnostix (Boston, MA, USA) are collaborating to offer new helpful services to users of Planmeca ProMax 3D imaging devices. Planmeca ProMax 3D users can now order for 3D Diagnostix radiology reports and computer-guided surgery systems directly from the Planmeca Romexis software. Posted on 20 Mar 2013
Planmeca ProMax 3D customers can now order 3D Diagnostix radiology reports and computer-guided surgery systems from within the Planmeca Romexis software. Planmeca’s 3D unit users can send their images for radiologic interpretation or their Planmeca Romexis implant plans to order surgical guides with only a few clicks.
Images sent from Planmeca Romexis for radiologic interpretation are read by a 3D Diagnostix board-certified radiologist for a range of diagnostic goals such as pathology findings, implant planning, existing implant evaluation, sinus evaluation, and TMJ assessment. Customers can pick any or all of these objectives in just one comprehensive report and for a flat fee. All reports are thorough and include pertinent images with annotations and measurements.
Planmeca ProMax 3D users, for the surgical guide order, create an implant plan using the innovative implant planning tools and extensive implant library of Planmeca Romexis. The implant plan and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data are sent to 3D Diagnostix as a surgical guide order where an on-staff dentist will confirm and enhance the plan for surgical guide fabrication. The customer is then contacted for an online case review where they can modify and approve the plan. This means that customers are completely in control of their case during the process. In instances where the patient has five or more teeth remaining, customers send a plaster cast of the patient to 3D Diagnostix to be used for guide design and fabrication. Alternatively, a digital Planmeca ProMax 3D scan of an impression can be included in the order to speed up guide fabrication. After the guide passes quality control (QC), the customer receives it ready for use in surgery.
Customers can order both a radiology report and surgical guide simultaneously for the optimal surgical experience. “We are very thrilled with this new cooperation as an innovative endeavor to further empower Planmeca customers,” stated Khaled El-Said, CEO and general manager at 3D Diagnostix, Inc. “Planmeca is a leading cone beam manufacturer with a wide customer base all over the world and 3D Diagnostix is the international leader in CBCT interpretation and guided surgery services that cater to the needs of this base.”

Now, our users can also order radiological interpretations and surgical guides from the same software for an optimal surgical workflow.”
