Carestream Health (Rochester, NY, USA), a global provider of dental and medical imaging systems, has signed a contract to supply five DRX-Revolution X-ray mobile units to the Royal London Hospital, a division of Barts Health [UK] National Health Service Trust. Posted on 06 Jun 2012
The CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System is the industry’s sole mobile X-ray system that includes a fully automatic collapsible column, giving healthcare professionals complete visibility during device transportation. Powered by a wireless DRX detector, the system is easy to maneuver and expands upon Carestream’s “X-Factor” concept, which enables the sharing of DRX detectors across multiple X-ray systems.
A 32 kW generator, dual focal spot tube, and EVP Plus image processing enable the system to provide fast, high-quality images even in confined spaces. The DRX-Revolution’s two touch-screen displays also enable prior images to be reviewed, accepted, or rejected, facilitating hospital processes.
Matt Trevail, operational lead radiographer, Royal London Hospital, explained the DRX-Revolution’s innovative imaging options and convenience features will help the hospital achieve superior images and will reduce the need for retakes.
“There were a number of features that we particularly liked on the DRX-Revolution,” added Mr. Trevail. “The graphic user interface is identical to the Evolution systems already operational at the hospital so minimal training will be necessary and the image processing is also the same to achieve consistency of imaging across all systems.”
The DRX-Revolution system shares the same DRX-1/DRX-1C wireless detectors as the rest of Carestream’s DRX family, which includes the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit, CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution modular DR suite, CARESTREAM DRX-Transportable System, and CARESTREAM DRX-Ascend System.
