Canon Europe Acquires Medical Imaging Technology Company Delft DI

Canon Europe (London, UK), a world-leading developer of imaging technology, has strengthened its product range in the medical imaging field by acquiring medical solutions company Delft Diagnostic Imaging (Delft DI; Veenendaal, The Netherlands).Posted on 07 Feb 2012
Delft DI specializes in two business fields. The first is software solutions for sharing digital images and medical records. This business will become a future platform for the development of new healthcare information and communication technology (ICT) system including cross enterprise document sharing for imaging (XDSI) solutions. The second is digital X-ray imaging systems, systems integration, and service of a wide variety of customized complete solutions for radiology departments.
Delft DI has been an important distribution partner for Canon digital radiography systems for over 10 years in The Netherlands and Belgium. Building on this partnership, where Delft DI has already integrated Canon digital radiography products in their services, this business will become a platform for developing future digital radiography services.

Following the completion of the acquisition, Delft DI will become a subsidiary of Canon Europa NV. Yoshiyuki Masuko, senior director, medical imaging group, will join the board of Delft DI. Delft Imaging Systems, currently a subsidiary of Delft DI, will become a separate company, will no longer be part of Delft DI group, and is not part of this acquisition.
Delft DI specializes in novel medical picture archiving and communication system (PACS) software solutions, digital X-ray imaging systems, and system integration and service of a wide range of customized complete solutions for radiology departments. Delft DI includes Rogan-Delft, Delft Imaging Systems, and Oldelft Benelux.
Canon is a developer of medical applications. In 1940, Canon’s first medical application was introduced, an X-ray application for tuberculosis screening. Canon has delivered many of the world’s first systems in the area of radiography and eye care. Today, Canon’s broad line of digital radiography systems and eye care diagnostic equipment is used in many areas including hospital environments, medical and screening centers, as well as a wide range of portable needs systems.
