3Disc Imaging (Dulles, VA, USA), a manufacturer of medical imaging products, has acquired CoreWare (Gangwon, Korea), a provider of digital radiography software, in an effort that solidifies 3Disc’s position as an emerging leader in the medical imaging arena.

CoreWare offers a range of image processing software solutions for computed radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR), and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) to customers throughout Korea, as well as in other Asian countries and the United States. CoreWare’s innovative software powers 3Disc’s suite of highly flexible, cost-effective X-ray imaging systems for human and animal use.

According to Sigrid Smitt-Jeppesen, chief executive officer of 3Disc Americas, CoreWare is a perfect fit for the company. “3Disc is a technology company with significant expertise in building quality medical imaging devices,” Ms. Smitt-Jeppesen said. “The acquisition of CoreWare, with its exceptional technical and scientific capabilities in imaging software, complements and strengthens our ability to develop smart, high-quality imaging products that provide facilities with flexibility that lets them grow.”

“We are pleased to join the 3DISC team,” said Joshua Kim, chief executive officer of CoreWare. “We have been impressed with 3DISC’s ability to manufacture exceptional medical imaging devices. We share a philosophy and mission--to deliver uncompromising image quality and improved workflow at an affordable price. As a result, the pairing of 3DISC and CoreWare’s imaging software expertise is an unbeatable combination, and one that will have great benefit for our respective customers.”

3Disc’s range of CR readers is built on pioneering technology that provides high-quality images for viewing, enhancement, duplication, archiving, and distribution. Its next-generation FireCR+ medical product line includes a range of compact, portable CR readers suitable for use in hospitals, clinics, specialty practices, and satellite facilities, while separate product lines serve the dental and veterinary markets.

3DISC’s upgradeable CR readers allow customers to select a system that meets current needs and budgets, and scale up as imaging volume increases. This feature provides optimum flexibility and ensures that a facility’s technology investment is protected. Upgrades can be rapidly completed in the field, ensuring no workflow disruption. The compact FireCR+ Readers are designed to fit into any environment, with a wall-mount option for facilities with limited space. The readers feature the company’s QuantorMed imaging software, which optimizes image acquisition, processing, and management.

3Disc specializes in imaging products for the medical, dental, chiropractic, and veterinary markets. Its products are based on novel concepts that provide very productive, compact devices and software solutions that deliver quality images at a cost-effective price. The company has quickly developed strong distribution networks in the United States and Europe, making its products available to a growing number of hospitals, clinics, specialty practices, and satellite facilities seeking flexibility that lets them grow.
