A new version of breast imaging workstation software brings highly intuitive viewing protocols and workflow tools that allow each radiologist to display and compare breast images according to his or her preferences. The system also manages breast images regardless of medical device type (X-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging [MRI], or computed tomography [CT]) or modality vendor used to acquire the images.

Merge Healthcare (Milwaukee, WI, USA), a medical imaging solutions provider, announced a new contract with the Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), a U.S. network of 51 imaging centers based in Minneapolis, MN, USA. The CDI centers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul will use Merge Mammo 7.2, the newest version of Merge's breast imaging workstation software. The solution will debut at the CDI center in Sartell, MN, USA.

"After reviewing several prominent mammography applications, Merge Mammo 7.2 proved the best overall solution,” says Steve Fischer, CIO of CDI. "While our physicians noted the software's robustness and intuitive workflow, it was Merge's flexible deployment model that best matched our expense-to-revenue criteria and won our vote of confidence. Their dedication throughout the entire process was also very much appreciated.”

"This is a nice step forward in our relationship with CDI,” says Nancy Koenig, president of Merge's Fusion division. "CDI has relied on Merge software to manage its radiology workflow through the use of Fusion RIS [radiology information system] for several years. This new contract continues Merge's dedication to meet the immediate and unique needs of each diagnostic imaging facility through innovative medical imaging solutions and productive service models.”

Merge Healthcare builds software systems that automate healthcare data and diagnostic workflow, both to build a better electronic record of the patient experience, and also to enhance product development for health information technology (IT), device, and pharmaceutical companies.

CDI is a U.S. network of imaging providers offering a full range of diagnostic imaging, pain management, and interventional radiology services.
