Canon USA Acquires Virtual Imaging

Expanding its capabilities to provide complete medical imaging and healthcare solutions, Canon USA, Inc. (Lake Success, NY, USA), a developer of digital imaging, reported that it has acquired Virtual Imaging, Inc. (Deerfield Beach, FL, USA).

Virtual Imaging is a provider of diagnostic imaging solutions and a medical systems integrator. With more than 100 employees, including a U.S. sales and service organization, Virtual Imaging serves large complex hospital organizations, imaging centers, and private physician offices, and is the U.S. distributor of Canon's award-winning digital radiography (DR) systems.

"Canon and Virtual Imaging have had a long-standing relationship that has benefited both companies over the years. This acquisition will position Canon well for future growth in the medical imaging and healthcare marketplace," said Joe Adachi, president and chief executive officer, Canon USA. "Having Virtual Imaging join the Canon family will allow us to better offer a comprehensive line of cost-effective Canon certified medical imaging solutions and services that can be fully integrated into an organization's workflow and improve patient throughput."
