Varian Medical Systems Partners with Toshiba Medical Systems to Supply X-Ray System Components

Varian Medical Systems, Inc. (Palo Alto, Ca, USA) announced the execution of a three-year, US$320 million contract for Varian to supply medical imaging subcomponents to Toshiba Medical Systems (Tokyo, Japan) for integration into diagnostic imaging equipment for the world market.

Orders will be booked over the period of the agreement. "This contract marks the latest chapter in our 30-year relationship with Toshiba Medical Systems,” said Robert Kluge, corporate senior vice president at Varian. "Over the years, our two companies have developed a close cooperation at all levels of the business. We have complementary design engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and work together well to realize new products and improve existing ones.”

Varian Medical Systems is a world-leading manufacturer of medical devices and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy, and brachytherapy. Varian is a supplier of tubes and digital detectors for X-ray imaging in medical, scientific, and industrial applications.

Toshiba Medical Systems' full range of diagnostic imaging systems, including X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound, has made the company one of the world's leading suppliers of medical systems.
