A large cloud-based data exchange company has unveiled a vendor-neutral healthcare data interoperability platform that facilitates communications between healthcare providers, laboratories, radiology departments, billing systems, and vendors.

The platform enables healthcare providers to send and receive data packages complying with standards such as Health Level 7 (HL7), XML, and JSON. The system replaces point-to-point integrations and multiple data interfaces which providers and vendors currently use. In addition, the platform provides data security and integrity, and improves the allocation of resources.

The HealthData Exchange platform was developed by NetDirector (Tampa, FL, USA) and allows providers to connect to the whole HealthData network of vendors and systems using a single platform. The platform builds on NetDirectors’ experience with Integration-Platform-as-a-Service (iPaas) solutions.

Additional features of the HealthData Exchange platform include a monitoring dashboard with detailed interface metrics, and alerts for High Availability (HA), short-term disaster recovery, and vendor neutrality. The platform is compatible with Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Radiology Information System (RIS), Laboratory Information System (LIS) integration partners. Platform users are billed according to their monthly transaction volume.

Ivo Yueh, Director of IT Software Development, EmCare/Rays, a US radiology service solutions provider, said, "We chose NetDirector to replace our current strategy of setting up point-to-point HL7 integrations with each customer. We were also impressed with their ability to adapt their level of operational involvement to meet the complex needs of healthcare interoperability. With NetDirector, we believe that we can improve client integration turnaround time and reduce on-going support overhead."
