A leading manufacturer of diagnostic imaging products and medical informatics solutions showcased its next generation VNA and imaging archive at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2015).

The vendor is the current KLAS Category Leader (Orem, UT, USA) for Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA)/image archives. A VNA facilitates the management, distribution, and visualization of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) images, non-DICOM images, and other standards-based documents from any departmental system in a hospital or clinic.

FUJIFILM Medical Systems (Stamford, CT, USA) showcased the updated Synapse VNA family of products at RSNA 2015. The Synapse VNA is developed by FUJIFILM TeraMedica (Milwaukee, WI, USA). FUJIFILM Medical Systems also offers digital X-Ray systems, Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), cardiovascular products, and women’s health imaging systems.

The updates for the Synapse PACS include a new user interface with fast image display, Synapse Commonview sharing and integration with other radiology and Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors. The Synapse 3D advanced visualization and analysis toolset can be used with the Synapse PACS on the same workstation, and offers image overlay tools and volumetric imaging for 3D modeling and quantitative analysis of organs. Synapse 3D also uses synchronized patient lists to optimize workflow and improve diagnostic confidence. The Synapse RIS is fully integrated with the PACS and features template scheduling, a patient portal, business intelligence analytics, and has complete EHR certification for Meaningful Use in radiology. The web-based Synapse Cardiovascular system can streamline workflow, image review, and reporting for cardiac applications with version 6.0 of the Synapse VNA 6.0. The Synapse Mobility zero footprint enterprise viewer supports the VNA with collaboration tools, embedded cloud based image sharing, and advanced 3D viewing tools.

Jim Morgan, vice president Medical Informatics, FUJIFILM Medical Systems, said, “Fujifilm’s Synapse solutions are designed to help transform healthcare organizations as they enhance collaboration and optimize workflows across the enterprise. Our goal is to provide innovative technologies that increase efficiency, boost productivity, and ultimately, help drive quality care and better patient outcomes.”
