A first-of-a-kind software that can automate Computed Tomography (CT) protocol management has been released by a major medical imaging vendor.

The novel software application improves the efficiency and safety scanners, by allowing an operator to remotely manage CT protocols, and save analytical data about the operation of the scanner.

The CT Vitality software is part of the Vitality Solutions portfolio from Toshiba America Medical Systems, (Tustin, CA, USA), and is intended for use with Toshiba Aquilion ONE CT scanners. The software facilitates protocol utilization and analysis of radiation dose to ensure the safety of scanners in hospitals and multi-site Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).

The CT Vitality software also updates system-wide protocols automatically by performing CT protocol review and verification tasks. The software can also analyze data about the scanner and operation for consistent performance and improved dose management.

Satrajit Misra, senior director, CT Business Unit, at Toshiba, said, “CT Vitality is a groundbreaking technology that will assist our customers in providing consistent, high-quality care. By offering technology that consolidates protocol management, we are helping hospital networks provide the better, safer patient experience that is a core principle of the Triple Aim of healthcare.”
