New Integrated Diagnostics Solution Launched at HIMSS 2015

A new solution for storing, viewing, and sharing digital pathology images between pathologists and radiologists has been launched at the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS 2015; Chicago, IL, USA) conference.

Cancer diagnosis and the effectiveness of treatments and patient outcomes are dependent on findings from both pathology and radiology departments. Until now, information exchange between radiology and pathology groups was limited because of the major difference in their departmental workflows.

The solution was developed by Sectra (Linköping, Sweden), an international medical imaging IT provider that develops and sells medical IT and secure communication products and services.

The solution is intended to improve the efficiency of cancer care by allowing pathologists to review cases digitally, instead of by microscope. The solution will enable sharing of samples between pathologists and specialists, for a faster and more accurate diagnosis, and will also facilitate multi-disciplinary team meetings.
