WebBridge Software for Medical Facilities Allows Third-Party Interfaces to Develop Front-End Functionality in a Matter of Days

Designed for medical facilities of any size, new web software allows any native or web-based third-party application to upload any non-standard data (e.g., JPEG, TFF, PDF, TXT, etc.) to an enterprise imaging suite and vendor-neutral archive (VNA).

Dicom Systems (DCMSYS; Campbell, CA, USA) newest product, DCMSYS Interface WebBridge, will be presented at the 100th annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting held November 30th through December 5, 2014, Chicago (IL, USA). Users can connect to DCMSYS product range to access all the patient data, search studies, link data to the appropriate study and store, modify, share, and connect to any repository.

Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) PS3.18 2014b web services standard provides a simple mechanism for accessing DICOM persistent objects, through HTTP/HTTPS protocol, using DICOM UIDs (unique identifiers). Data may be retrieved either in a presentation-ready format, as specified by the requester (e.g., JPEG or GIF), or in a native DICOM format.

“We continue to innovate and expand DCMSYS product line and add valuable features to ensure that our customers have the latest and greatest that technology can offer,” said Dicom Systems president and CTO Dmitriy Tochilnik. “With the help of WebBridge, third-party interfaces can develop front end functionality in a matter of days and fully manage the data stored on DCMSYS VNA and routers. Our devices process and route 1.9 billion images/26 million exams a year. WebBridge helps to manage the PHI [protected health records] records and get the data in and DICOM Guard functionality distributes the data out, eliminating the need for CD burning and mailing the patient information.”

Dicom Systems offers a 100% secure web-based DICOM and HL7 routing and interface engine appliance for hospitals, clinics and diagnostic imaging centers. Its proprietary technology greatly simplifies the client’s information technology (IT) structure by applying industry standard protocols, such as SNMP, SSL/TLS, DICOM, and HL [Health Level] 7, thereby enabling users’ rapid and effective access to information regardless of their physical location within the enterprise.
