New diagnostic software enables clinicians to securely view patient images from a wide range of computers and mobile devices, collaborate with other practitioners, and generate high-quality medical diagnosis from any location in real-time.
Calgary Scientific, Inc. (Calgary, Canada) is making it faster and easier for practitioners to diagnose patients with the launch of ResolutionMD 3.2. This new version minimizes time-consuming procedures by offering substantially better access to pertinent images.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared, Health Canada-licensed, and CE-marked solution never transfers highly sensitive data to the device, as is the instance with other mobile medical diagnosis software. ResolutionMD is published in 12 languages and is currently installed in leading healthcare institutions worldwide via a network of more than 35 leading healthcare partners.

“Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD software is a powerful complement to Dell’s [Round Rock, TX, USA] unified clinical archive solution, particularly as more mobile devices are introduced in the healthcare setting,” said August Calhoun, PhD, vice president and general manager of Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences. “This new release will give physicians even faster access to securely view patient images, thus saving time and improving patient care.”

ResolutionMD’s new functionality streamlines workflows to bring vital data to the fingertips of the practitioner. The new version offers physicians with an easy way to recall a patient’s complete image history rapidly; flexibility to view multiple images side by side for comparison; and faster navigation between images.

A globally recognized healthcare institution recently conducted a study comparing three image-viewing products to evaluate diagnostic quality, access time to images, technical effectiveness, and clinician satisfaction. The time for radiologists to access images using ResolutionMD was approximately 10 minutes faster per image than the traditional picture archiving and communications system (PACS) in use at the institution and 15 minutes faster than the second viewing system used daily.
Oncologists, surgeons, neurologists, and other specialists participating in the study also experienced significantly improved image access times and workflow enhancement. In large institutions viewing one million or more images per year, the cost savings related to image access are tremendous.

“We are proud to deliver this new version of ResolutionMD with time-saving workflow and data access improvements that contribute to faster diagnosis,” said Pierre Lemire, president and CTO of Calgary Scientific. “Input from our valued partners and customers shaped the new release which puts betters tools in the hands of practitioners and provides significant cost savings to their institutions.”
