Fujifilm Medical Systems USA (Stamford, CT, USA), a developer of healthcare informatics solutions, reported that the company has taken several steps to further its expertise in virtualization. The company is already an experienced virtualization provider with dozens of fully virtualized Synapse environments (picture archiving and communication systems [PACS], radiology information systems [RIS], cardiovascular) successfully implemented across the United States. Now, to further increase its virtualization capabilities, Fujifilm has added to its accomplishments, including becoming the first PACS vendor to officially validate its virtualization solution at VMware corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, CA, USA.

"We are pursuing every avenue to assure that the delivery of Fujifilm's virtualized solution is second to none,” said Jim Morgan, Fujifilm's executive director, Synapse Marketing. "While we've already successfully rolled out virtualized solutions across our full Synapse informatics product portfolio, we're committed to staying on top of this technology and maintaining what we believe is a clear competitive advantage. Healthcare facilities can be 100% confident in Fujifilm's ability to be both a trusted advisor and experienced provider of medical imaging virtualized environments that are architected from the ground up to take advantage of the full complement of VMware virtualization features.”

Fujifilm has recently taken three steps to assure its proficiency with the available technologies in the virtualization space. The company has formalized its five-year relationship with VMware, and is now an official Technology Alliance partner (TAP) program member. It Installed, configured, and tested its Synapse products at VMware's headquarters in Palo Alto, CA, USA, so that healthcare facilities can have confidence that the virtualized solution, which will be recommended and installed has been fine tuned to work optimally in their environment.

Developed in-house virtualization expertise with VMware certified professional (VCP) and certified design expert (VCX) designations achieved by numerous staff. Employees continue to earn these certifications, assuring a comprehensive knowledge of the virtual requirements and best practices that enable the delivery of a customized solution suitable for each unique facility.

Growing in importance in the medical arena, virtualization eliminates single points of failure and further maximizes uptime beyond traditional server architectures. With virtualization, facilities can leverage the significant business benefits of an optimized information technology (IT) environment that can dynamically support changing business needs while ensuring flexibility and efficient utilization of hardware resources.

Fujifilm is applying the VMware virtualization technology and enabling its PACS, RIS, and cardiovascular customers alike to realize the benefits of virtualization including lower capital and operating expenses, business continuity, strengthened security, and reduced energy consumption.
