A new patient data access portal option has been developed for an enterprise radiology information system (RIS), a browser-based multi-facility application that supports a comprehensive range of advanced RIS features. Posted on 02 Mar 2009
Using the portal, patients registered with a radiology practice's site can log in over the Internet and download their reports and related data in real time, using a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act- (HIPAA)-compliant password. Patients also have access to the radiologist's final signed reports.
"With today's new emphasis on patient and referring physician access to healthcare information, this new portal feature puts RIS Concepts in the vanguard of progressive healthcare and meets a growing need among radiologists,” commented Christie Hentschl, vice president of sales and marketing for RIS Concepts (Miami, FL, USA), the developer for the portal.
RCI-RIS provides features such as real-time scheduling, dictation, transcription, patient demographics, document scanning, and billing. The RIS also offers a proprietary HL7 engine, providing economic and efficient integration with other healthcare information technology (IT) applications.
RIS Concepts is developer and marketer of RIS solutions. Also available is new RAD-RIS, an advanced web-based workflow application customized for the unique needs of radiology groups reading studies for multiple client facilities. The new RAD-RIS creates an innovative integrated worklist combining studies across multiple enterprises and locations, while simultaneously interfacing picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) in use at different hospital and clinics. It also features a client billing component, providing radiology groups with a complete business system.
