Visualizer Designed as a Diagnostic Tool for DICOM Images

The first of a series of diagnostic and theranostic tools has been developed for the detection and treatment of multiple cancer pathologies.

im3D-Medical Imaging Lab (Turin, Italy), a medical research that collaborates closely with medical, scientific, and clinical specialists worldwide to develop advanced medical imaging systems, reported that its new product, the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) visualizer, Visor, enhances the functionality of im3D's diagnostic workstation by grouping and displaying any number of radiologic exams for quick, single-source visualization. Visor enables the radiologist to easily confront and compare exams, as well as relay exams to specialized computer-assisted detection (CAD) applications, thereby optimizing the overall workflow.

VISOR interfaces with im3D's flagship CAD-Colon diagnostic system, a commercially available interactive workstation, as well as with upstream picture archiving and communication systems (PACS). The DICOM visualizer represents an umbrella application that will help the radiologist efficiently manage computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other radiology exams for use with im3D's CAD-based diagnostic tools. Visor is the first in a series of new systems that are being developed by im3D for breast, lung, and other cancer pathologies. Similar to CAD-Colon, im3D's new diagnostic systems are based on the company's proprietary software and are the result of clinical, scientific, and medical research.

im3D's systems feature advanced CAD technologies based on proprietary algorithms and methodologies developed by im3D. The company's flagship product, CAD-Colon, is a non-invasive system for the identification and prevention of colon cancer. CAD-Colon allows clinicians and radiologists to accurately detect polyps while they are small and easily removed, years before they become dangerous.

Im3D-Medical Imaging Lab was recently selected by Frost & Sullivan (Palo Alto, CA, USA) as the Entrepreneurial Company of the Year for its CAD-Colon interactive workstation, which was installed in healthcare facilities throughout Italy and within Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, USA). im3D's products are CE- (Certified European Approval)-certified and commercially available within Europe, Canada, and the Middle East.
